How We Help
-
Medication Management
Medication management is a key component of mental health treatment that involves evaluating, prescribing, and monitoring medications to help manage symptoms and improve daily functioning. Through detailed assessments and regular follow-ups, we ensure your treatment is tailored to your needs, adjusting medications as necessary to optimize effectiveness and minimize side effects. It’s a collaborative process designed to support you in achieving your goals.
-
Pharmacogenomic Testing
By looking at clinically important genetic variations in your DNA, pharmacogenetic testing analyzes how your genes may affect medication outcomes. Results can provide a better understanding about how you may break down or respond to certain medications commonly prescribed to treat depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric conditions. The test is a simple cheek swab taken either in our office or in the convenience of your home.
-
Therapy
Therapy is a collaborative process where we explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a safe, supportive environment. Through evidence-based approaches, therapy can help you develop healthier coping strategies, improve relationships, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. Whether you’re facing challenges like anxiety, depression, stress, or life transitions, therapy provides a pathway toward healing and growth.
-
Second Opinions
Second opinion assessments provide a fresh perspective on your mental health diagnosis or treatment plan. Whether you’re seeking confirmation of a current diagnosis, evaluating alternative treatment options, or exploring unresolved symptoms, our thorough evaluations help you make informed decisions about your care. This collaborative process empowers you with the clarity and confidence needed to move forward in your mental health journey.
Insurance
As part of Center for Healthy Minds, PLLC, Dr. Skefos is considered an out-of-network, fee-for-service provider and does not submit insurance claims on behalf of patients. While this means I do not bill insurance directly, it allows me to keep my practice small and focused—providing each patient with the time, attention, and care they deserve.
By not contracting with any insurance companies, Dr. Skefos is able to offer longer, more thoughtful sessions without the pressure to see a high volume of patients each day. This means we have the space to go beyond medication management—discussing things like sleep, nutrition, exercise, and other aspects of wellness that impact mental health. It also allows time to answer your questions thoroughly and collaborate more deeply on your treatment plan.
This model supports the kind of personalized, comprehensive care that I believe leads to better outcomes and a more meaningful treatment experience.
Please note, due to federal regulations, Center for Healthy Minds, PLLC, is unable to accept patients who are enrolled in Medicare or Medicaid (including when Medicare is a secondary insurance), regardless of whether you intend to use these benefits.
If you plan to use private insurance benefits, please check with your insurance company to confirm whether your plan offers out-of-network coverage. You can also use a third party (Reimbursify) to simplify out-of-network insurance claims for a small fee. After each appointment, you'll receive a detailed receipt (also known as a "superbill") that includes all the information you’ll need to submit a claim directly to your insurance.
My Commitment
I’m committed to being transparent about costs. If I anticipate that a session may run longer than planned, or if something you’ve requested might require additional time, I’ll make every effort to let you know in advance. While it’s not always possible to predict every situation, my goal is to be mindful of both your time and your budget.
Why High-Quality Care is Worth It
You Deserve Expertise and Time: I bring nearly a decade of experience in diagnosing and treating complex psychiatric conditions. I’ve trained at Harvard and led student mental health services at a major university. My patients get the benefit of that expertise—not just quick med checks, but careful diagnostic thinking and a true partnership in their care.
Invest Now or Pay Later: Mental health is like any other aspect of your health—neglecting it doesn't make the problem go away. You either invest in high-quality care now, when we can address issues early, or pay for it later when symptoms spiral and the consequences become more disruptive to your life, relationships, or career.
Perspective: Many people think nothing of spending $1,000 on the latest iPhone, or $500 a month on weight loss meds or supplements. But your mind is the command center for everything—your energy, your focus, your relationships, your work. Why wouldn’t we prioritize it with the same level of investment? The cost of one high-quality psychiatric evaluation can be less than a weekend trip, a few weeks of dining out, or a few months of a subscription you barely use.
This Is an Investment, Not an Expense: This isn’t a one-time splurge—it’s a targeted investment in your functioning, your future, and your peace of mind. When your mental health improves, your performance, sleep, relationships, and energy often improve too. That ripple effect makes this one of the highest returns on investment you can make.
Most of the Cost Is Up Front: Most of the cost is early on, while we’re gathering information and adjusting medications. Once we find what works for you, I usually only need to see people four times a year. That’s less than the cost of many other ongoing medical or therapy services.
Mental Health Drives Everything: Struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or mood instability can affect your relationships, your parenting, your job performance, and your physical health. When we stabilize your mental health, all those other pieces tend to function better.
Professional Fees
The Initial Comprehensive Evaluation is a 90-minute session with a flat fee of $600. During this time, we’ll review your concerns in depth, clarify any diagnoses, and determine if ongoing care in my practice is the right fit.
Some people find this single visit provides the clarity and direction they need. Others may choose to continue treatment with me.
For ongoing care, common follow-up options include:
30-minute visit (medication management and/or therapy): $250
45-minute visit (medication management and/or therapy): $375
Fees are subject to change.
Before scheduling a comprehensive initial evaluation, we invite you to schedule a Free Introductory Call with Dr. Skefos.
A Final Thought
It’s okay to feel hesitant about cost—especially when you’re used to rushed or impersonal care. But what I offer is different. You deserve a provider who sees the full picture and has the time and training to help.
